Question – How is the display on Lenovo Vibe S1?

Answer –  The display on Lenovo Vibe S1 is crisp and best in its class. It’s a 5 Inch full HD panel, so pixel density is definitely not an issue here. Sunlight visibility, colors and viewing angles are all good. The display is certainly better than what we saw on Vibe P1.

Question – Does the display support gorilla glass protection?

Answer – Yes, the display has Gorilla Glass 3 protection. A scratch guard is also bundled in the box.

Question- What is SAR Value of Lenovo Vibe S1

Answer –  0.454 W/kg@1g (Head) 0.791 W/kg@1g (Body)

Question – How is the design and build?

Answer- Lenovo Vibe S1 is a compact and easily manageable device which uses the sure-shot Metal + Glass exterior. It certainly looks good, but you will spend a considerable time wiping off smudges from both front and rear surface. Side edges are metallic and coated in blue on our review unit, a nice touch. The handset feels sturdy, but like other glass coated phones, is a bit slippery if you go commando, i.e. without a case.

Question – Are the capacitive keys backlit?

Answer – No, capacitive keys are not backlit.

Question – What kind of SIM card does it accept?

Answer – The Lenovo Vibe S1 can accepts one nano SIM and one Micro SIM card, but since it is a hybrid tray device, you will have to choose between MicroSIM and SD card.

Question – How much internal storage space is free? Can Apps be moved to SD card on Lenovo Vibe S1?

Answer – out of 32GB, 22.9GB is available at user end. Yes, some apps can be moved to the SD card as well.

Question – Is USB OTG supported?

Answer – Yes, USB OTG is supported.

Question – How is the Lenovo Vibe S1 performance? What are benchmark scores of Vibe S1?

Answer – We didn’t face any issue with day-to-day performance on Vibe S1. The handset handles moderate and basic gaming very well without heating up much, but we did saw occasional lag creep in with graphic intensive gaming.

Question – Does Lenovo Vibe S1 have heating issues?

Answer – No, we didn’t face any heating issue with Vibe S1

Question – How much RAM is free on first boot?

Answer- Out of 3GB, around 1.6GB RAM is free on first boot.

Question- How is the Lenovo Vibe S1 camera?

Answer –  Lenovo’s Vibe S1 camera plays to the galleries. Which means, pictures aren’t necessarily accurate, but the software does a great job of making the end-result attractive and palatable on the Vibe S1 display. We managed to capture great selfie and rear camera snaps even in low lighting, but shots were a bit overexposed and we had to keep our hands very stable. Viewing Vibe S1 pics on a bigger display evoked mixed feelings. The details weren’t great.

The dual-front camera allows you to add bokeh effect in your selfies, which is great when it works well (which was 6 out of 10 times for us, but we are starting to get the hang of it). You can also cut-out your image and place yourself on different background. I am not particularly enthusiastic about this one, but again your opinion may vary.

Question – How is the call quality?

Answer – Call quality is very good in our area.

Question – How is the Battery backup on Lenovo Vibe S1?

Answer – Battery performance is average. We got a screen on time of about 3 hours, but our usage is on the heavier side. Most basic users can easily reach one day mark.

Question – Is the battery removable on Vibe S1?

Answer – No, battery is not user replaceable.

Question – How many sensors does Lenovo Vibe S1 have?

Answer – You can see all sensors listed in the image above.

Question – How is the software?

Answer – Vibe S1 software provides a nice mix of features. For example, you can set different system states (Wifi off, ringing volume, location on/off, etc.) based on your location or time of the day or you can swipe the lower part of the display to wake it from sleep or even have granular control over app permissions.

If you like to play with different aspects of your device, the software has enough to keep you engaged. It doesn’t look ugly either on Vibe S1. There is no app drawer in the default launcher. You will find the standard set of Lenovo apps pre-installed, and some of them can be uninstalled too.

Question – How loud is the loudspeaker on Lenovo Vibe S1?

Answer – Loudspeaker grill is present on the bottom and sound quality and loudness just about does the job.

Question – Should I choose Lenovo Vibe P1 or Lenovo Vibe S1?

Answer – Lenovo Vibe S1 lies in the same price bracket, and comes with an additional fingerprint sensor, but all said and done, we are more inclined towards Vibe P1

Question – What comes inside the box of Lenovo Vibe S1?

Answer – Inside the box, there is a 2Ampere charge, back cover (not a nice fit), scratch guard and USB cables. Headphones are not included in the retail box.

Conclusion

Can Lenovo Vibe S1 use PC’s internet via USB cable (i.e., without using Wifi)? ———————————————————————————————————- I have used other android smartphones before, where I used to share Desktop PC’s internet for using internet connectivity on mobile devices via USB. Typically the steps were Settings > Wireless & networks > USB Internet (sharing Windows PC internet via USB cable), which was easy. But in Vibe S1, it has Vibe UI. Activating developer options, I tried to Switch to Android UI. But there was no such option for Vibe S1 under developer options. It would be great if anyone can find out if switching to Android UI is really possible. Under settings, I also searched through other probable options but couldn’t succeed. Currently I am using PC’s internet on Vibe S1 via Wifi connectivity only.
