Smartphone cameras are already surprisingly good, considering space, cost and other constraints associated with these minuscule shooters. As the next step forward, OEMs are increasingly using two instead of one camera sensor and magically stitching what they see using efficient camera software.

If you are a smartphone photography enthusiast and are looking for the best Dual Camera Smartphones, then here are the best options available.

iPhone 7 Plus:

The Cupertino-based company has always managed to set industry benchmarks with its iPhone camera quality. Now with the latest iPhone 7 Plus it is pushing the envelope even further. The handset houses two rear facing cameras, one of which has a wide angle lens and the other has a telephoto lens. The camera app lets you intuitively toggle between the two.

The benefit of this implementation is the ability for 2X optical zoom, which is surprisingly handy and not only for close-up photography.

In new portrait mode, both wide-angle lens and telephoto lens works in tandem. The 12-megapixel wide-angle lens focuses on the image subject and the telephoto lens distinguishes between background and foreground to create that perfect bokeh effect.

LG G5:

The Korean giant too came out with its version of dual Cameras in its 2016 flagship, the LG G5. Here, LG has used an innovative dual camera setup including a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor. The idea behind it was to offer excellent wide angle shots from close distance.

Using the dual camera setup on LG G5, you can shoot up to 135-degree wide angle shots  from just a few feet away, thus enabling you to fit more in each frame. You can also create collages using Multi-View feature (where both camera’s alternately click images) or use Popout mode which also places image from standard shooter on top of an image captured by the wide angle camera.

Huawei P9:

Huawei P9 is an ambitious attempt by Chinese telecom giant to position itself in the same league as Apple and Samsung in terms of camera performance. Huawei teamed up with Leica to develop the camera of this phone where they paired a Color sensor with a monochrome (black and white) sensor.

The RGB sensor captures all the colors while the monochrome sensor captures up to 300 percent more light. This results in more detailed images with better contrast, even in low lighting.

This clever implementation also adds a myriad of other features like light trails, awesome true monochrome mode, bokeh effect, etc. resulting in an overall fun camera experience.

Huawei Honor 8:

In many ways Honor 8 dual cameras works similar to Huawei P9. It has two  12-megapixel Sony IMX 286 sensors. Just like Huawei P9 one of these is an RGB color sensor and other one is color agnostic.

You don’t get the true Monochrome and a few other shooting modes as in P9, but other software features have been passed on.

Lenovo Phab 2 Plus:

Lenovo just announced its new dual camera phone, the Phab 2 Plus, which provides basic dual camera features for a budget price. At the back, it has two 13-megapixel cameras with Futjistu Milbeaut Image Signal Processor, which Lenovo claims helps captures better low-light shots in DSLR-style effects.

The pixel size is quite big (1.4-microns) and there is a f/2.0 aperture lens on top. The Manual mode is also present in the phone for all those who loves to tinker with base settings. With a single tap you can turn on the AR camera mode which is nothing more than a gimmick at this point.
