Interestingly, the former agent decided to follow its previous employer National Security Agency over the microblogging site.

In his first ever tweet the fugitive contractor tweeted: “can you hear me now?” Two years ago, Snowden fled from the US after leaking highly classified information to the Media. His leaks raised question marks over the US Government’s unauthorized phone and internet surveillance.

The US authorities have accused him of leaking sensitive and classified national defense related information and stealing government property. All these accusation, if proven right carries a maximum 10-year jail term.

In his Twitter profile, he has listed himself as the director of Freedom of Press. His profile reads out as: “I used to work for the government. Now I work for the public. Director at @FreedomofPress.”
