Google added more option to the Files Go app to make it more user convenient. The app now includes a search bar – to locate files on the phone, a way to spot a duplicate file, and access Google Photos right from the app. (हिंदी में पढ़े)

All these new features work on top of the apps’ existing features like clearing unwanted files from the phone and sharing files to nearby devices. Google says that the changes are based on the feedback they have received from Files Go users.

Here’s the highlight of Files Go new features:

File Search

With this feature, you could search for the file on your phone inside the app just like you search the internet. The search results on Files Go will be instant. The app will also autocomplete your search and show search history.

For file search, open the Files tabtap the search icon and find all of your files on your phone in a split second.

Spot Duplicate Files

Initially, Files Go would just remove duplicate files from the phone without letting users know their location. Google has changed that in the new update. So now when Files Go suggests duplicate files for removal, you can long press on the thumbnail, tap the “i” icon and see the location of the duplicate file.

Your Google Photos in Files Go

Files Go now works seamlessly with Google Photos. It can easily clear the photos that you have already backed up on the Google’s Photos App. The Files Go App automatically detects your photos and videos back up and prompts you to delete those files to free up more space.

This new update of Files Go app is rolling out to users now. These are just the minor yet important additions to the handy, light app that manages your phone storage and conveniently removes junk or unwanted files, images or videos that are just eating up storage space on your phone.
