Galaxy Xcover 4: Another ‘Rugged’ Samsung Smartphone In The Offing

The last time Samsung brought up a truly ‘rugged’ smartphone (Galaxy Xcover 3), it was year 2015. Now, the company has announced yet another such smartphone that will be a successor to the previous one and take forward its Xcover series of handsets.

The device will be called the Galaxy Xcover 4 and has been designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, in addition to being water and dust resistant.

The robust new outing from Samsung will come with an IP68-certified dust and water resistance and even comply with US Military Standard MIL-STD 810G. Speaking of specifications, the Xcover 4 will boast of a 4.99-inch HD display which is being claimed to work even if the user is wearing gloves while using it.

There is a 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos 7570 14nm processor at the helm of the things, which is supported by a Mali-T720 GPU and a 2GB RAM.

Running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS, the phone would have an inbuilt primary memory of 16GB and will pack a 2,800mAh battery to keep it alive.

For photography, there is a 13MP camera on the back, stocked with a LED Flash and f/1.9 aperture. Up front, one could make use of the 5MP camera for selfies.

The phone will come in black color and see a European release in April, catering to a price of US$ 272 (approx. Rs. 18,200).
