The beautiful ‘bokeh’ shots have been a rage ever since they were introduced on Apple iPhone 7 Plus last year. While consumers have been asking for the feature for a while now, we only realized how badly we needed them after we experienced the miraculous portrait mode on the Pixel 2. So, it was only natural that this was among the first few things that we checked on the V30 Plus. Except, LG hasn’t added one.
Without a doubt, the LG V30 Plus camera app is one of the most engaging ones. It offers as many features as one could imagine, however, there is no portrait mode in spite of dual cameras on the rear.
Worry not! Thanks to the hardworking folks at XDA, we can work our way around the issue. Well, almost.

How To Shoot Portrait Images From Your LG V30 Plus
Step 1: To begin with, download and install the Google Camera HDR+ APK file from your browser. (First, go to settings>> security and check the box next to unknown sources).
Download: Google Camera HDR+
Step 2: Open the app, tap on the top-left corner of the screen and choose the Lens Blur option. You are all set to shoot images with ‘bokeh’ effect. Take the camera 5-feet close to the subject > Click on the Capture button > while you do that slowly raise your LG V30 Plus.

Step 3: The app will process the image and give you a software bokeh mode. This works for both, the front and rear cameras.
Step 4: You can also adjust the intensity of blur and the focus point after you have clicked the image. You can use this to improve the quality of the clicked portrait shots.
How to Get Portrait Mode On Any Android Phone
The good news is you can use this Camera port from Pixel phones on any Android device running Snapdragon 820, 821, or 835 processor. Fortunately, the V30 Plus uses the Snapdragon 835 chipset so we were able to run the Google Camera HDR+ on the device to shoot images with blurred background. The bokeh isn’t perfect or as consistent as portrait mode on pixel phones but it’s the closest you can get on V30+ for now.
