5 Google Chrome Tips and Tricks For Unmatched Browsing Experience On Android

The ability to sync all your recent pages, tabs, bookmarks etc. across all your devices makes Google Chrome a very powerful productivity tool. Even with all that convenience, there are several inhibitions users face, which prevents it from being the default browser on Android handsets. If you have been shy of using it for any reason, here are a few handy tricks which can enhance your Chrome experience.

Touch To Search

While reading, its customary to come across a string of text which you would want to explore further. It might be a word meaning, more about a person or perhaps anything else which you wish to explore.

This is perhaps the best Google Chrome feature in our books and though some other browsers and apps try to deliver a simpler experience, there is no true alternative. Remove Chrome Tabs From Recent Apps Panel

Post Android Lollipop, Google chrome tabs have merged in the recent app panel. Though accessing all your Chrome Tabs with the convenience of taping a navigation button seems logical, it turns out be a huge pain, even more so if you are using a custom ROM.

So here is how you can get your chrome tabs back.  Tap the menu Icon on the top right, locate settings>> merge tabs and Apps>> Toggle slider to off.

Bonus Tip – Once you have your tabs back, you can simply swipe down anywhere on the URL bar (not just the small box labeled with number of open tabs) to manage all open tabs.

New Data Saver Mode

Late last year, Google announced a new update to data saver mode on chrome that can save up to 70 percent of your data, and which has already rolled out in India. Now, if your Data saver mode is on, Chrome automatically detects if you are on a slow connection and doesn’t load images by default. If you wish to see a particular image, you can tap on it to download.

This makes Google Chrome fit to use even on mobile data.

Add Pages To Home Screen

Google Chrome allows you to create home screen shortcuts for ant page you like. The ability to organize shortcuts for all your frequently visited webpages in a home-screen folder can be cathartic. If your smartphone is short on resources, you could also use these shortcuts as alternatives to separate apps for the websites you like.

To enable it, type Chrome://flags in your browser. Now tap the menu option and select find on page. From here search for reader mode, enable it and re-launch Chrome browser.
