Search engine giant, Google, has decided to end its exclusivity on ‘Google Assistant’ on their homemade Speakers. The company will now assist third-party developers to develop smart speakers integrated with Google’s voice assistant.

Google Assistant will soon debut on third-party speakers, starting with the Zolo Mojo by Anker, TicHome Mini by Mobvoi, and the GA10 by Panasonic.

What Smart Speakers can do?

Simply speaking, Smart Speakers is a voice activated digital assistant. These speakers come equipped with microphones, to take voice commands and perform simple tasks using smart algorithms.

Last year, Google announced one such speaker, aka Google Home, which provided virtual assistant and interaction to its users through Home’s intelligent personal assistant called the Google Assistant. The portable-speaker can be used to listen to music, set reminders, ask for updates and much more.

With Google opening up its Google Assistant doors could help place its AI software at the center of Smart Home automation. Abhi Taneja, Google Assistant’s Senior Director, in his blog wrote that “Starting later this year, you’ll be able (to) control your appliances… (with) Assistant on your smart speaker, Android phone or iPhone (any device with the Google Assistant built in!).”

“Need to clean up? It’s as easy as (‘Ok Google, start vacuuming.’) Want to know if your favorite jeans are clean? (‘Ok Google, are my clothes clean?’) or (‘is the laundry done?’) Getting help around the house will be easier than ever.”

The company also announced that it has partnered with the largest home appliance manufacturer, LG, to install Google Assistant technology on their home appliances. This way you’ll be able to control your appliances, including washers, dryers, vacuums and more from your Assistant on your smart speaker, Android phone or iPhone or by any device with the Google Assistant built in.
