The year 2017 will be remembered as the year for Nokia’s comeback. They launched a spree of Android-powered smartphones and many of which were instant hits and the company even managed to sell 12 million phones globally in the last quarter.

Until now, it was known that HMD Global will deliver only two new phones – Nokia 9 and a new variant of Nokia 8, in the first-quarter of 2018. Now, a new report claims that there might be a third smartphone that the Finland-based firm may announce.

Nokia 1 is it?

The new phone is reportedly being called as Nokia 1 that will run on Google’s ultra-light software Android Go out of the box. If you recall, Android Go is actually a toned down version of Android Oreo designed exclusively for phones with entry-grade processors. The software is fast and secure and occupies less space, and Google calls it to be more efficient with less powerful hardware like what’s expected on the Nokia 1.

There is little information available about Nokia 1 as of now, but as far as specifications are concerned, we can expect an HD display, MediaTek or Qualcomm entry-level SoC, 1GB RAM, and 8GB built-in storage. If reports are anything to go by then the phone can replace Nokia 2 to be the new entry-level smartphone of HMD Global.
