HTC U Ultra And U Play Launched In India At Rs. 59,990 and Rs. 39,990

After making its debut in the west, the HTC U series phones have officially made it to India. At a press event presented in New Delhi, HTC presented its new flagship phone, the U Ultra, alongside its relatively affordable sibling, the U-Play. The real highlight of the U Ultra smartphone is its secondary ticker display something similar to the LG V20, new Sense UI, and ‘Liquid’ Design.

The HTC U Ultra will start selling in India starting from March 6 and the U Play will be available later by ‘Mid of March’ 2017. HTC is also offering 7.5 percent cashback to Standard Chartered Cardholders as an introductory offer.

With this new Ultra line-up, HTC is emphasizing on design, improved multimedia experience, and artificial intelligence. The Sense Companion on U-series phones shall serve as an alternative to Google Assistant. Like all other contemporary AI assistants, it relies on machine learning technology to offer a personalized experience and to improve with time.

htc u ultra 2 Apart from this, HTC also introduces its sonar-based audio system “U-Sonic” that will facilitate true sound via headphones. Both devices lack 3.5mm audio jack and come with a multipurpose USB Type-C port for charging, data transfer, and audio output.

The new phone comes with improved aesthetics made out of metal and curved glass. The U Ultra sports a 5.7-inch Super LCD display with 2560×1440 pixel (QHD) resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. On top of it, there is a 2-inch secondary display with 1040×160 pixels resolution.

The phone uses Qualcomm’s premium Snapdragon 821 chipset mated to 4gigs of RAM. In India, it comes with 64GB internal storage and supports media expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB). The display on 64GB variant is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

For shutterbugs, the HTC U Ultra flaunts a 12-UltraPixel rear shooter with 1.55-micron pixels, a BSI sensor, laser + phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, a f/2.8 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash. Up front, it bears a 16-megapixel camera with an UltraPixel mode and a BSI sensor.

On the other hand, the HTC U Play bears a 5.2-inch 1080P display with Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB media storage. It comes with a 16-megapixel primary snapper with f/2.0 aperture and 8-megapixel selfie shooter. The phone boots out of the box running on Android Marshmallow based Sense UI and is backed by a 2,500mAh battery.
