Huawei is on a roll this year. After launching string of high-end specs smartphones and claiming second spot on the leader board, company is once again in news that too for a right reason. The Chinese smartphones and hardware manufacturer has announced its new powerful, top of the line chipset Kirin 950.

Company has already sold more than 15 million Kirin powered smartphones in last two years and expects to sell many more since the rollicking momentum has been established. The new flagship octa-core processor has big.LITTLE configuration with four Cortex A53 clocked at 1.8GHz handling menial tasks, and other 4 Cortex A72 cores (11 percent faster than Cortex A57 in current gen high end processors) ticking at 2.3GHz managing all heavy lifting. To handle graphic needs, chipset is assisted by Mali T880 GPU. The Kirin 950 is going to become the first chipset to get the CMCC VoLTE certification.

The new age chips are constructed on a 16nm FinFET+ process and by doing so they have become first commercial 16nm FinFET+ mobile processor in the market. As per the company, in comparison to previous generation chipset, performance improves by 40% while power consumption decreases by 60%.

GPUs in Kirin SoCs have been disappointing so far, but Chinese manufacturer makes amends with the 950. Huawei claims that there is a 100% improvement in GPU performance. This processor is also compatible with LTE Cat 6.

The Chinese manufacturer also bragged about improved camera performance on Kirin 950 powered devices. Now camera app will load quickly and will focus even faster. The new DSP (Digital Signal Processor) also comes with added capabilities of visual noise reduction and fast panorama mode. All new i5sensor hub, a powerful image single processor and latest LPDDR4RAM all are part of it.

As per media reports, on AnTuTu benchmark test, Kirin 950 has allegedly scored whopping 82,950 points. Huawei is already testing it on Mate 8 which is likely to launch on November 26.
