Question – How is Le 1s Eco different from Le 1s?
Answer – Well, the new Le 1s Eco isn’t just a Le 1s with content services, but it isn’t much different either. That is understandable since the price isn’t much different either.
The primary change is use of Helio X10 instead of Helio X10 Turbo, where the processor is clocked at 1.8GHz (vs 2.20 GHz).
Our original Le 1s review unit didn’t heat much, but we have heard complaints. And so has LeEco. And perhaps this should help Le 1s Eco run a bit cooler. (Also, no modern smartphone will run cool with outdoor usage in scorching summer sun).
On the outside, the shiny chamfered side edges (i.e. the chamfered part of side frame) have been replaced by matte ones (The iPhone SE way). That’s all. The display, camera, other hardware and software remains same.
The Content
Question – What benefits do you get with LeEco Membership?
Answer – LeEco Membership includes LIVE app (Live TV Channels from Yupp TV), Levidi (premium movies and related content from Eros Now), LeEco Drive (5TB cloud storage – coming in Q3, 2016) and Le Music (content from Hungama Music – coming in Q3, 2016).
Question – How many channels are there in the Live app?
Answer – There are more than 100 channels in LIVE App. The Hindi channel collection is elaborate. You won’t find all popular channels here, but you will get almost all types of channels (Sports, music, soaps, etc. ). For those who prefer watching in English, the collection isn’t very extensive as of today. You can still watch news, lifestyle channels and a few informative channels.
Apart from Hindi and English, content is also available in Oriya, Marathi, Gujurati, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Bengali, Malayalam and Tamil. If you have questions pertaining to a specific language, hit the comment section below.
Question – Are LIVE Channels actually “live”?
Answer – Yes, compared to my Television, there was just one minute delay.
Question – What kind of content do I get in Levidi app?
Answer – Levidi integrates content from YouTube, Eros Now and a few other sources.
Content is organized in sub-categories like Comedy, News, How to & Style, Pets & Animals, Music, etc. You will also find sections like Most Viewed, Recommended and Hot Publishers (YouTube equivalent of Channels) for easy navigation.
Primary take away here is the Eros Now premium subscription. That makes for a reasonably entertaining collection of Hindi movies.
Question – What is the resolution of content streams in both apps?
Answer – Live app works at 360p or lower. There is no toggle to set resolution in Levidi and for now the app streams 360p by default.
Question – What kind of internet connection speed will I need?
Answer – We have tested Live and Levidi at 1Mbps speeds and it works fine. Of course, everything works smoothly on 3G too.
Question – I already bought Le 1s Eco. Why don’t I see LIVE app and Eros Now content on my phone?
Answer – Those who buy Le 1s Eco in the first two flash sales will have to remain content with introductory discounts. Content services will be pushed as OTA updates starting 24th May.
Question – How long will the content be free?
Answer – For one year.
Our Experience with LeEco Content so far…
For times when you can’t be in front of the TV, watching TV on your phone can be cool. For instance, I watched a bit of History channel and MTV while waiting at a restaurant for my food to arrive – when I had free WiFi to exploit. Even at home, ErosNow subscription salvaged Saturday. It has to be way better than your better half making you sit through “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun” for the millionth time. Right?
And you get all that for free. Things will get even better once Hungama Music streaming goes live.
LeEco, however, has to work fast and add much more to the platform before its compelling enough to command a subscription fee. It has to offer packages tailored for individual needs, rather than a family pack where there is a little something for everyone.

Question – How is the performance on Le 1s Eco?
Answer – Performance was a strong suit of Le 1s and that hasn’t changed with Le 1s Eco either. The Le 1s Eco feels as snappy as ever. High-end games work well too.
Benchmark Scores

Question – Does Le 1s Eco have heating issues?
Answer – Not anything alarming. Like most other metal uni-body handsets, it gets warm with long-duration or intense usage. And as stated before, don’t expect your phone to run cool while using it out-doors in summers.
When compared next to Le 1s, it ran a couple of degrees cooler in day to day usage. After heavy usage, maximum temperature we recorded was around 43 degrees (Which is about same as Le 1s).
Question – How much storage is free on Le 1s Eco?
Answer – Out of the box you will get 23.17GB free storage at user end.
Question – How is the battery life of Le 1s Eco?
Answer – Theoretically, lower clock frequency is supposed to improve battery life. In practice, the battery backup seems to have improved but not by a wide margin. For basic and moderate usage, you can easily extract one day out of it, but with heavy usage, you will need to keep that fast charger handy.
Note: In all other aspects, Le 1s Eco is similar to Le 1s, and thus you can head on to Le 1s FAQ or Full Review to know more about display quality, camera performance, fingerprint sensor accuracy and more.
Conclusion
Le 1s Eco is how LeEco envisioned Le 1s in the first place. The highlight here is LeEco Membership which certainly adds value to smartphone experience and helps it stand apart from rest of the budget crowd.
