Design and Display

Question: How is the Moto E3 Power Design and Build Quality?

Answer: Lenovo’s Moto E3 Power follows the same design as the Moto G4 family. To us, this resemblance is mildly off-putting because we did expect the Moto E to have its own unique, perky design. At the same time, we have to admit that the phone certainly looks better than most other phones that we have seen in this budget.

Like most phones, the front is dominated by the IPS LCD display. Below it, there is a large chin, with a broad slit that houses the front firing speaker. Above the display, there is an earpiece alongside camera and proximity sensor. On the top, there is a 3.5mm audio jack, while at the bottom sits a symmetrically aligned micro USB port.

The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge. Both buttons are easily accessible, don’t wobble and offer good tactical feedback. There is a rugged pattern on the power button that helps you differentiate it from the volume rocker instantly.

The matte-finish back panel curves towards the sides to facilitate a firm grip. Overall, the Moto E3 Power doesn’t have an unconventional design still, it looks sophisticated and firm.

Question: Is the Moto E3 Power water and dust proof?

Answer: As per the company, it comes with a water repellent nano-coating which can protect your phone from accidental spills. Having said that, it is not water and dust proof.

Question: Are the capacitive keys on Moto E3 Power backlit?

Answer: The E3 Power uses on-screen navigation buttons, therefore, backlit buttons are out of question.

Question: How is the display of Moto E3 Power?

Answer: The Moto E3 Power houses a 5-inch IPS LCD display which translates to 294 PPI pixel density. The display offers rich colors and brightness levels are also high enough. However, viewing angles of the display are average and we noticed some color fading and tinting while gawking at it sideways. The Display is also a bit reflective, something you readily notice outdoors. The display resists smudges and finger grease (to an extent), thanks to the oleophobic coating on top.

Question: How is the outdoor visibility? Does the Moto E3 Power has the option for automatic brightness?

Answer: The outdoor visibility of the display is decent despite its reflective nature. The adaptive display comes into play in bright conditions.

Question: Does the Moto E3 Power display has Corning Gorilla Glass protection?

Answer: No, the Moto E3 Power doesn’t come with a Gorilla Glass protection.

Question: How is the day-to-day or general performance? How is gaming performance of Moto E3 Power?

Answer: Moto E’s have never been tailored for power users needs. These are phones which are known to handle basic usage rather efficiently. The Moto E3 Power didn’t fare very well in this regard. The performance reminded us of last generation laggy 3G variant.

If you are a basic user, with very basic needs, the Moto E3 power might suffice. But, for anything more than that the performance is bound to be a problem, especially after a period of usage. The phone is certainly not meant for gaming. Heavy users will be better off with alternatives like Redmi Note 3 and Le 1s Eco.
