In 2016, Mosquito bites in India are no laughing matter. LG India certainly thinks so and extends its concern by launching a Television that drives away mosquitoes. Yup, that’s right. The LG Mosquito Away TV emits Ultra Sonic sound waves that make mosquitoes fly away.

“The technology complies with the norms of global organizations and has been tested by International Institute of Biotechnology and Toxicology (IIBAT), India as well,” assures LG in its press note.

Now I don’t know about you, but I can almost swear that Mosquitoes I deal with are growing insolent and obstinate each passing year. They quickly adapt to whatever spray you arm yourself with, whatever foul smelling coil you burn, or to whatever-repellent you might apply. Besides, with increasing epidemics like dengue, malaria, etc. – Mosquitoes are more perilous than ever!

So, if LG’s new TV is as effective as they promise, I am all game for the new innovation no matter how absurd it sounds.

You can buy 80cm LG Mosquito Away TV for Rs. 26900. The 108 cm display model will sell for Rs. 47500.

This is what Mr. Howard Lee, Director – Home Entertainment, LG Electronics has to say about the new innovation:

“LG is constantly introducing products based on Indian Insights, making them more meaningful for the Indian consumers. The new Mosquito Away technology in television is an extension of this philosophy, transiting beyond viewing experience and truly building a healthy environment at home.  We at LG want to deliver innovation at its best for our customers and we hope that this product will be beneficial for them.”

And this is what the disclaimer says:

IMPORTANT: Long term effect not tested and mosquitoes may become resistant. Mosquito species used in the test may differ from the mosquito species of your region. This product is one of the ways to manage mosquitoes and not intended to replace other protective devices against mosquitoes. Some low-level noise may be heard from the speakers when the anti-mosquito feature is activated. It is normal and there is no need to be concerned.
