Microsoft launched its Surface Book 2 detachable screen laptop with an upgraded design, bigger display option, better battery life, and more powerful innards. And all that improvement has pushed the price all the way up to $1499 for the 13.5-inch display version and $2499 for the 15-inch display variant.

Surface Book 2 Features

  • As stated above, the Surface Book 2 comes in two sizes – 13.5-inch (3000 x 2000) and 15-inch (3240 x 2160) – each with touchscreen support, Surface Pen and Surface Dial compatibility, and can be attached to the keyboard dock using a new and improved ‘snake-like’ hinge.
  • Both models are powered by 7th generation Kaby Lake and 8th generation Coffee Lake processors. The Core i7 8th gen is only an option for the 15-inch Surface Book 2.
  • As for graphics, the 13.5-inch display variant gets up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 2GB graphics memory and the 15-inch variant gets NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with up to 6GB of graphics memory.
  • Both models offer a choice between 256GB, 512GB or 1TB solid-state storage and between 8GB and 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
  • Connectivity options include 2x USB 3.0 Type-A ports, One microUSB Type-C port, SD card slot, Headphone jack and Proprietary Surface connector.
  • Microsoft claims 17 hours of battery backup with both variants (measured as video playback time), and 5 hours when you use them as tablets. That sounds pretty good.

Microsoft Surface Book Price and Availability

The price of Surface Book 2 13.5-inch display variant starts at $1499 and the price of Surface Book 2 15-inch will start at $2499. If interested, you can pre-order them starting November 9 and they will ship starting November 16.
