Two smartphones that have recently debuted in the Indian market, after a successful global stint, are Moto G5S Plus and Nokia 6. Both smartphones are the mid-range devices and more importantly, they come from multi-national iconic firms, Motorola and Nokia.

Though both devices remain parallel to each other yet they intersect at more than one point, which complicates the matter. Let’s stack the two phones against one another to estimate how much they differ in terms of hardware.

Design And Build

The new Moto G5S Plus comes clad in an all metal unibody design with 2.5 d glass on the front. The back of the phone has got a hump which accommodates the dual camera sensors and just below that we have the typical Moto dimple. The fingerprint scanner is on the front placed at the bottom of the screen. It isn’t vastly different than other Moto phones released this year (in terms of looks), but it nevertheless feels premium and solid.

Moving on to the Nokia 6, the device has been carved out from a single block of Aluminum and looks gorgeous. The phone has a 2.5D glass on top and sports flat edges with sharp corners. It also has a front mounted fingerprint scanner surrounded by the navigational buttons.

If you ask us then we would say that Nokia 6 is a tad more fashionable than the Moto G5S Plus.

Display

Display wise both smartphones stand neck to neck. Both the Moto G5S Plus and Nokia 6 sport good quality full HD display panels. There is nothing to chose between the two in this regards.

Performance And Softwre

As we enter into the performance sector, a quick update on their software. Interestingly, both device will feature the same UI – Pure Android 7.1.1 Nougat, out of the box.

The Moto G5S Plus innards remain more or less same as its predecessor, the Moto G5 Plus. It rocks a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC clocked at 2GHz, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is expandable to up to 128GB via a hybrid microSD card slot.

In this context, the Nokia 6 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz, and an integrated Adreno 505 GPU. The processor is well-supported by 3GB RAM and 32GB storage – expandable via hybrid sim slot to up to 256GB.

Clearly, the Moto G5S Plus is a winner here. The Snapdragon 625 processor is mightier and also a tad more power efficient.

Camera and Battery

Decoding the camera functionalities: the Moto G5S Plus comes with dual rear camera setup – a 13MP+13MP RGB and Monochrome sensors – and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with LED flash. Whereas, the Nokia 6 has got 16MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual LED tone, and HDR mode and an 8MP selfie shooter with no LED flash.

For photography, the Moto G5S Plus’ dual camera and a front LED flash makes it a better choice than the Nokia 6. The Nokia 6 camera just doesn’t give away the fight that easily, it’s 16MP back camera is also capable of delivering quality images, but its front camera will struggle in low light selfies.

To provide the much-needed juice both smartphones deploy a 3000 mAh battery, but the Moto G5S comes with the fast charging support.
