New Apple iPad with 9.7-Inch Retina Display And A9 Chipset Launched At Rs. 28,900

Apart from introducing the striking Red color iPhone models, Apple also replaced the iPad Air 2 (2014) with a less expensive iPad, that has the same size (9.7-inch) retina display and is powered by A9 chipset that debuted with iPhone 6 and 6S.

Other hardware remains almost same. The new iPad includes Touch ID fingerprint sensor, 8MP rear camera with f/2.4 aperture lens, a 1.2MP HD front camera, Wi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac); dual channel (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and HT80 with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, and 32.4-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery (10 hours of mixed usage).

Unlike the Pro models, the new iPad won’t be available in Rose gold color. It is also a tad thicker (6.1 mm vs 7.5mm) compared to the more expensive iPad Air 2 that it replaces.

Apple believes that the new more affordable iPhones should help revitalize the slumping tablet market. In India, the new Apple iPad will be available starting at Rs. 28,900 for the 32GB + WiFi model and Rs. 39,900 for the 32GB + Wi-Fi + Cellular model. Also Polyurethane Smart Covers for iPad in charcoal grey, white, midnight blue, pink sand and (RED) will retail for Rs. 3,700.
