There is still some time before we get to see OnePlus 3 in flesh and blood, but leaks for the upcoming “Never Settle” branded handset have already started pouring in.
The recent benchmark listing for OnePlus 3 presence of Qualcomm’s top of the line Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB (most likely LPDDR4), latest Android Marshmallow based software, a 16MP rear and 8MP front camera and a full HD display.
The company didn’t join the pixel density rat race and prudently decided to go with Full HD resolution in mind. Maybe because the Snapdragon 810 had its issues, and besides FHD was touted good enough for a 5.5 inch display.

But one year down the line, QHD displays have caught up, and with a capable Snapdragon 820 on board, I would expect more than a few OnePlus loyalist feel like ‘Settling’ with a Full HD panel. VR headsets are the new fads, and with Snapdragon 820’s VR capabilities, the 3 could definitely benefit from those added pixels.
In our books though, a well calibrated FHD panel is definitely good enough for a 5.5 Inch smartphone display. OnePlus didn’t do a great job with it on the 2, but we do hope it evolves for the better this time.
OnePlus managed to sell more units of 2 than One, but the handset wasn’t received with the same enthusiasm as the One by the fan community. This year, OnePlus will be looking forward to changing that.
