Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is out. Samsung took the wraps-off the Note 8 at its Unpacked event in NewYork City. If the first reactions of the media gathering are anything to go by and the new Note appears to be another blockbuster offering from the company. In last few months, the Note 8 has featured in various leaks and some of them manage to hit the bull’s eye. Here’s everything you need to know about the Note 8.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Design and Display

The Galaxy Note 8 takes a lot of design cues from ageing sibling the Galaxy S8+. It flaunts the same combination of glass and metal. The exterior shell is made of Gorilla Glass 5. The Note 8 is a tad bigger than S8 plus in size and has a rectangular shape.

However, the phone’s dimension will remain within manageable size and if fact it is smaller than any other 6.3-inch display phone. It features a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, similar to the Galaxy S8.

The S-pen easily slips into the phone’s body. The Note 8 boasts a 6.3-inch ‘Infinity Display’ which is almost bezels free. It is a QHD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 and a widescreen 18:5:9 aspect ratio. This cinematic display also supports mobile HDR Premium.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Hardware

The Galaxy Note 8  is powered by Snapdragon 835 processor / Exynos 8895 (depending on the region) rocking under the hood. For graphics, Adreno 530 or Mali A71 is roped in. It comes with 6GB RAM and offered in both 64GB storage option. The Note 8 comes with a smaller 3300mAh battery which supports wireless fast charging. Samsung claims, its battery has under gone 8 security checks and is absolutely safe.

Samsung Note 8 Software

As for software, the Galaxy Note 8 boots out of the on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Experience UX 8.5 garnished on top. Samsung has further added support for its stylus S pen which is an integral part of its Note Series. The company has also promised Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade for the next quarter. It also comes with an Iris scanner, a fingerprint sensor, and facial recognition to secure the device.

The Galaxy Note 8 optics includes dual camera setup at rear side which has taken some inspiration from Apple’s iPhone 7Plus and OnePlus 5. Samsung has used a combination of 12MP sensor + 12MP telephoto sensor that offers up to 3X optical zoom. Both the lenses come with f/1.7 aperture and dual optical image stabilization. The dual OIS as per the company not just helpful in images but also in video modes. Up front, it there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera that can lock focus automatically on the subject and has a beatification.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 S-Pen and Others

The S-Pen will come as part of the Note 8, it has been slightly improved as compared to last year. It has a become more sensitive to a pressure that helps in offering greater precision. Like the phone, the S-Pen is also water and dust resistant.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 India launch Details and Price

The Galaxy Note 8 is priced at $999 (or approx Rs 64,000). Samsung didn’t mention India launch date but we expect it to happen sometime in the middle of September. In the US and Europe, pre-booking starts from September 1.
