Samsung Gear S2, Gear S2 Classic and Gear VR goes official in India

Samsung Gear S2 and S2 Classic has finally docked on Indian shores almost half a year past its IFA Berlin debut last year. Tizen OS running Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic have garnered positive nod from critics worldwide thus far, and will now be selling in India for Rs. 24,300 and Rs. 25,800 respectively.

The Gear S2 comes with modern design and silicone band while the Classic variant gets a Black Finish complemented by leather made band for more premium appeal. Both of these Gear S2 watches have 1.2-inch round dial Super AMOLED displays with 360 x 360 pixels resolution and 302ppi pixel density. The display is layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection from scratches.samsung_gear_s2_hands_official

The innovative feature which distinguishes Gear S2 from the crowd is the rotating bezel which punctuates with a click and opens a whole new and intuitive way for interacting with the UI.

The smartwatch sports a dual-core Samsung Exynos 3250 chipset which is ticking at 1GHz, coupled with 512 RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Both these watches are running Tizen OS and supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC as connectivity options. Samsung Gear 2 watches comes with accelerometer, heart rate sensor, barometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor and GPS. These are also certified with IP67 certification which ensures it is resistant to water. It also features a 250mAh Li-ion battery with wireless charging support.

Samsung also launched Gear VR for consumers priced at 8,200 INR. The accessory will be compatible only with Galaxy Note 5, S6 and S6 Edge series handsets and can be used for immersive video or 360 degree video viewing experience, fundamentally similar to Google Cardboard or TheatreMax.
