In recent times, India economy has made some progress towards becoming a digital economy. In this whole drive, Samsung introduced its Samsung Pay in India. This new digital payment service from Samsung allows users to make payment at PoS terminals (NFC supported and traditional both) just by a phone without using a physical card. After offering Samsung Pay in mid-range phones like Galaxy J7 Pro, the company is harboring bigger aspirations for this mobile payment platform. As per reports, the company is working on expanding its payment service to non-Samsung smartphones.

According to Gadget 360, Samsung is working on arrangements where other brands will allow it to integrate its Pay services on their phones. Having said that, the report failed to divulge the name of any specific brand with which Samsung is presently collaborating. If Samsung is unlikely to approach players like LG and Apple, who already have rolled out similar payment services in other countries.

Even if Samsung manages to get to an understanding with other few OEMs, it will be interesting to see how it handles the hardware integration part. Samsung is more likely to pass on Samsung Pay Mini instead of full fledged Samsung Pay to other players.

To recall, Samsung With J7 Max introduced Pay Mini in India which only supports UPI and wallet apps to carry out a transaction. The full version of Samsung Pay, on the other hand, supports both MST and NFC which allows a user to make payments at most of the POS machines. Therefore, if the company decides to offer a full version of Samsung Pay (say in a Xiaomi phone) it will have to ensure that the phones have MST and NFC hardware built in.
