Samsung’s NPU Development

The report on Samsung AI chips is that they are already at par with Huawei and Apple chipset in terms of performance and Samsung will be further improving them over the next few months. The chips will be ready to use by the second half of this year, and presumably, Galaxy Note 9 will be the first beneficiary.

Talking about its performance, it is said that the Samsung AI chip will have an unmatched quality in terms of speed. The upcoming Samsung chipset will reportedly be capable of executing more operations per second as compared to Apple’s (600 Giga operations per second) and Huawei’s (4 Tera operations per second).

Apple and Huawei have already advanced their handsets with these chipsets. Last year, Apple released its iPhone X with much-talked-about A11 Bionic Chip that makes it the fastest chip in the industry till date. Whereas, Huawei used its Kirin 970 NPU Chip in Mate 10 Pro and Honor View 10 that can avoid your phone slowing down over time.

Although we are still waiting for Samsung’s official comments on this development, a company’s PR official revealed that “Development of AI chips is underway led by Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology.” And if things go as planned, Samsung might present a prototype of its AI chipset alongside Galaxy S9 on February 25 at MWC 2018.
