Sony India today introduced its midrange Xperia XA1 in India priced at 19,990 INR that shall retail at all major offline stores. The Sony Xperia XA1 comes with an edge-to-edge display and a 23MP rear camera.

As mentioned above, the horizontal bezels across the 5-inch HD display have been cut down, but that comes at the expense of a proportional increase in the top and bottom bezels, which is also something that the Xperia design has been long criticized for.

On the inside, the Xperia XA1 employs MediaTek Helio P20 quad-core processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and that sounds totally reasonable when compared to what other offline phones are offering in the same budget.

The 23MP camera on the rear also benefits from hybrid AF tech, LED flash and wide f/2.0 aperture lens. On the front, there is an AF 8MP camera, also with f/2.0 aperture.

Other things to cherish include 4G VoLte, Dual SIM support, latest Android Nougat based software, USB Type-C port, Qnovo Adaptive Charging that helps preserve battery health, and NFC.

Sony, however, might have some trouble convincing buyers with Xperia XA1 battery backup. Yes, the 16nm FinFET based Helio P20 is quite power-efficient, but still, we are not yet assured whether Sony can successfully extract significant backup out of the modest 2300mAh capacity. Another basic feature missing is the fingerprint reader.

You can buy Sony Xperia XA1 in India in White, Black and Pink Colors for 19,990 INR.
