Smartphones evolved a lot in last one year. In 2017, features like 18:9 display gained popularity, designs improved, and dual cameras made it to affordable phones. Moreover features like facial recognition which were once limited to premium phones also trickled down to budget segment.

In 2018, the competition is going to be stiffer. If you are wondering what lies ahead, here are some exciting upcoming phones to launch this year.

Top 5 Upcoming phones Rs. Under 20,000 in 2018

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

Last year Xiaomi had a dream run and a lot of credit for its success goes to one of the most popular mobiles phones of 2017 – the Redmi Note 4. Naturally, Xiaomi fans and market both have high expectations from the Redmi Note 5 which is likely to be announced soon. Though there is nothing official yet, Xiaomi is expected to announce the Redmi Note 5 along with Redmi Note 5 Pro. Later one is expected to be packed with powerful specifications.

Redmi 5 Plus

The Note 5 is expected to flaunt a 5.99-inch FullHD+ 18:9 display which either Snapdragon 625 chipset while the Note 5 Pro will feature a Snapdragon 636 processor enthralling under the hood. Xiaomi is expected to offer the Note 5 in the combination of 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64 internal storage. The Redmi Note 5 Pro, on the other hand, comes with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage options. As per few other rumors, the Redmi Note 5 could land with a 12MP rear and 5MP selfie camera.

Moto G6

In past two years, we have endorsed Moto G4 Plus, Moto G5 Plus and later Moto G5S Plus as one of the better phones available under Rs 15,000. Not only us, but the Moto G family had been receiving rave reviews from customers as well. So naturally, there has been a lot of high expectations from Moto G6, and Moto G6 Plus. This year, Lenovo is also planning to add another member to its G-series and it will be named the Moto G6 Play.

The biggest highlight of the Moto G6 Series phones is likely to be 18:9 displays. The Moto G6 is rumored to come with  5.7″ fullHD+ resolution, Snapdragon 450SoC, 3GB of RAM with 32GB internal storage or 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage.

Moto G6 Plus, on the other hand, could come with a 5.93-inch 18:9 full HD+ display, Snapdragon 630 chipset. Moto is said to offer it 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM configuration. Both G6 and the G6 Plus likely to come with a 12MP + 5MP dual rear camera setup and 16MP selfie sensor on the front.

Nokia 6 (2018)

After introducing the Nokia 6 (2018) in China, HMD Global once again showcased it at the CES 2018. We expect the highly anticipated Nokia 6 (2018) to land in India within the first quarter of 2018.

This year Nokia has fixed its last year’s biggest shortcoming and has added a more powerful chipset under the hood. The Nokia 6 (2018) rocks a Snapdragon 630 chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz along with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. That’s not all. The Nokia 6 (2nd generation) has also gained on features as now it comes with Bothie and OZO audio.

Xiaomi Mi A2

In 2017, Xiaomi launched Mi A1 with stock Android and it proved to be an instant hit. Xiaomi fans were ecstatic about this move since it brought Xiaomi’s hardware and Google’s vision of Android together. With everyone going gaga over the partnership, it is safe to assume that Xiaomi will be announcing its successor later in the year.

Though it is still very early to talk about the Mi A2, we expect to come with similar hardware as Redmi Note 5 along with dual cameras. Xiaomi could offer the Mi A2 with a 6-inch IPS display with 2160 x 1080 pixels full HD+ resolution. The phone is likely to come with Snapdragon 636 system-on-chips, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage.

Lenovo K9 Note

Lenovo didn’t have the best of times in 2017 but the company will leave no stone unturned to revive its run. One of the biggest announcement from Lenovo under Rs 20,000 budget segment could be the K9 Note. The successor to K8 Note is likely to feature a tempting 18:9 display on the front.

Dual camera setup was a bit of a let down last year, we hope Lenovo will fix that this year with the K9 Note. The phone is expected to feature a dual camera setup on both front and back.

We can hope that 2018 will also be a good year for smartphones with all such anticipated entries along with Xiaomi Mi A2 which are in the news at present.
