Aadhaar card has become a compulsory biometric identification for every Indian citizen. It can be used for address or identity proof, opening a new bank account or getting a new mobile connection and applying for a passport or driving license and so on.
Earlier this year, it was announced that citizens have to link mobile numbers with their Aadhaar. The motive was to verify the identity of the person electronically, often called e-KYC (Know Your Customer). In this process, to verify, an OTP is sent to the mobile number/email linked to your Aadhaar.
If you recently had your Aadhar linked mobile number updated and want to verify whether your contact information has been updated or not, here’s how you can do it.
Just follow these steps to verify your Aadhaar linked mobile number and e-mail ID:
Step 1: Head over to UIDIA website (https://uidai.gov.in/) and Click on Aadhaar services and select Verify Email/Mobile Number.

Step 2: A forum will be opened on your screen, feed-in the personal details like Aadhar number, Email, Mobile Number and the Captcha code. Now, click on get One-time password.
Step 3: An OTP will be sent on your mobile phone, enter it in the right column and click on verify OTP. Once successfully authenticated, a message that your email ID/mobile number is successfully verified will pop on your screen.
How to confirm that you have entered the right mobile number?
In case you enter a mobile number that’s not linked to your Aadhar card, you will get a “The Mobile number you had entered does not match with our records” message.
If you have entered the correct mobile phone number, you will get an “OTP has been sent to your registered mobile number” prompt. OTPs are often delayed (sometimes they don’t arrive at all), so you need to be patient.
If you are getting ‘OTP has been sent’ message, you can be assured that the phone number you have entered is correct.
