Continuing with its back to back launch spree, Xiaomi India will bring in another Redmi series smartphone on November 30. The new arrival is expected to be Redmi 5A that was earlier launched in China.

Xiaomi refers to the upcoming phone as ‘Desh ka Smartphone’ which is invariably an allusion to it being a low-cost device for the masses (In fact, that’s freakishly close to JioPhone’s ‘India ka smartphone’ tagline).

Xiaomi Redmi 5A Vs Redmi 4A: What has changed?

The Redmi 4A launched last year was an extreme value for money option, and the Redmi 5A will merely add iterative refinements (which is only fair). Both phones have the same chipset with the same amount of RAM and storage, the same display size, almost the same camera hardware and battery, and also nearly the same design with a rear-mounted speaker grill. But there are a few differences nonetheless.

– The Redmi 5A will be running more up to date Android Nougat based MIUI 9 (eventually).

– The Redmi 5A will have a wider aperture lens for selfie camera compared to Redmi 4A( f/2.0 vs f/2.2).

– The Redmi 5A will have a slightly smaller battery than Redmi 4A (3000mAh vs 3120mAh).

– The Redmi 5A is expected to be available in a few more color options

– The Redmi 5A has a dedicated SD card slot.

So, basically not much has changed on the hardware front. Xiaomi could also launch 5A with a new name in India.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A India Price (Expected)

Considering the marketing tagline, It’s very likely that Xiaomi will keep the price even lower than the Redmi 4A (5,999 INR). Having said that, since the prices of smartphone components have gone up, the difference can’t be much. In China, Redmi 5A was launched for 599 Yuan that roughly converts to Rs. 5,900.
