Xiaomi has started teasing a new fitness product on its social media handles. The upcoming product will be a result of an ‘exciting partnership’ and Xiaomi does give a clear hint.

The teaser reads “Hop Run Flex” while highlighting the letters H, R, and X, which is most likely a reference to HRX which is Hrithik Roshan’s sports brand that was also awarded ‘Best Celebrity License Brand award’ at the India Licensing Expo 2017 last month.

Xiaomi India Vice President and Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain too posted his image with a mysterious celebrity bokehed in the background (no, this wasn’t done using Mi A1).

The upcoming product could be smart shoes, a product that Xiaomi launched earlier in China in partnership with a local sports footwear company. A water resistant smart module with 6-axis sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope that can be plugged in the pair of shoes in question and be used to measure different fitness activities like running, stair climbing, etc. All data is synced with Mi Fit app.

Xiaomi already maintains a solid lead in the wearable segment in India owing to its aggressively priced and efficient Mi Band fitness trackers, and it feels only logical that the company would want to further consolidate its position by bringing in smart shoes.
