Xiaomi Mi 5 coming to India on March 31

Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi Global, promised Mi fans at Redmi Note 3 launch that Mi 5 was to arrive in India within a month. It seems Xiaomi has lived up to its promise. Xiaomi has started rolling out the invites for Mi 5 launch event which is scheduled for Thursday, March 31.

The Mi 5 was first launched by Xiaomi at Mobile World Congress and China in two event at the same time. In its motherland Xiaomi has introduced Mi 5 in three variants – 32GB, a 3D glass back variant with 64 GB storage and a 128GB 3D ceramic body version.

Recently in an interview Xiaomi President Bin Lin had hinted that Mi 5 is likely to be priced between 20K to 27 K INR which is close to its China price. In terms of specification, Xiaomi Mi 5 32 GB variant is powered by a Snapdragon 820 ticking at 1.8GHz accompanied by a 3GB of RAM. On the other hand, the 64GB variant enthralls on 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 along with 3Gigs of RAM. The Ceramic variant of Mi 5 comes features with 128GB ROM and 4 GB RAM, and houses Snapdragon 820 clocked higher at 2.15GHz under its hood.

In the optics department, there is a 16-megapixel primary shooter with four-axis OIS technology, PDAF, and dual-tone LED flash, and 4K video recording capabilities. Upfront, it features a 4-megapixel ultrapixel selfie camera. The phone comes with 5.15-inch 1080p display and 3000mAh battery with quick charge 3.0  support. The home button is embedded with a fingerprint scanner. It features a dual-SIM slot and runs on MIUI 7 which is based on Android Marshmallow.
