Going by the past traditions, Xiaomi may bring in its 2018 flagship phone, Mi 7, at the upcoming MWC exhibition next month. The Chinese smartphone maker is yet to make an official remark on this, but it is likely since they launched the predecessors – Mi 6 and Mi 5 -from the same stage.

The question may loom over the exact date of phone’s launch, but that isn’t the case with its specs. Thanks to the incessant rumors of Mi 7, we have a clear picture of what’s being served in Xiaomi’s 2018 flagship.

Here’s what to expect from 2018 Xiaomi Mi 7:

Infinity Display and Improved Aesthetics

The leaked renders of Mi 7 hint that the handset will sport an 18:9 display panel. Xiaomi will be using an edge-to-edge display just like the Mi Mix 2.

However, unlike the Mi Mix handset, the Mi 7 won’t have a chin but a forehead. Meaning the thin-bezel that accommodates selfie camera will be at the top rather at the bottom of the display. The screen size and resolution is unclear, as of now, but it is expected that it could be a full HD+ 6-inch display – slightly bigger than 5.15-inch Mi 6 display.

At the aesthetic front, the Mi 7 would likely retain the glass and metal unibody as seen on Mi 6.

Latest Processor

The flagship Mi 7 will rock Qualcomm’s most advanced Snapdragon 845 processor under its hood. Xiaomi confirmed on the chipset at the Qualcomm annual summit held last year, where they launched the chipset. It is expected that the phone may come in two RAM and storage options: 6GB RAM/64GB ROM and 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mi 7 may come running on Android Oreo-based MIUI 9 software out of the box.

Cameras

Just like the MI6, the Mi 7 will also sport dual-cameras on the rear. The Mi 6 had a duo of 12MP sensor each with one being a wide angle lens and the other telephoto lens. The camera also supported other specifications like OIS, 2X optic zoom and 10X digital zoom, and the ability to shoot bokeh shots. For selfies, the phone relied on an 8-megapixel sensor.

For Xiaomi Mi 7, it is speculated that the phone will have the same camera sensors aided with some additional features to deliver better shots even in low-light.

Battery

The Mi 7 could benefit from the Xiaomi’s recent partnership with Wireless Power Consortium. If things go as per plans, Xiaomi could introduce wireless charging to its flagship device. The handset is expected to house a 3500mAh battery with fast charging support.

What to expect from 2018 Xiaomi Mi 7?

These are the specification of Mi 7 that have been leaked so far. The news should be taken with a pinch of salt as they are based on leaks and are subjected to change till the Xiaomi officially introduces the phone.
