A recent leak hints that Xiaomi might be adding some really cool features to the next generation handset, Mi Max 3. Folks at XDA developers got their hands on the firmware of the phone, revealing key specification and features.

The Mi Max-series is Xiaomi’s mid-range device, which is known for big displays and gargantuan battery capacity. Last year, Mi Max 2 had 5,300mAh battery and a 6.44-inch display, up front. Chances are that the same trend will be repeated with the release of the new Xiaomi Mi Max 3 as well.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Specification (Expected)

As per the file, the Mi Max 3 has a full vision display fascia with 18:9 screen aspect ratio – no information on its resolution yet. Under the hood, the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile-chipset and house an enormous 5,500mAh battery.

What makes the leak even more interesting is the fact that the phone will support wireless charging. If the firmware file is anything to go by then the Mi Max 3 could become the second Xiaomi device after Mi 7 to feature Qi wireless charging.

XDA reports that “within the MIUI Keyguard APK, it discovered strings related to wireless charging and strings that tell whether charging has stopped and if yes, whether it is because of the device’s position from the base of the charger.”

The information was further affirmed by the video or graphic made by Xiaomi that shows the user how to place their device right on the wireless charger.

In optics, the Mi Max 3 will have dual-camera setup on the rear, which is expected to feature either Sony IMX363 or S5K217+S5K5E8 Samsung sensors. Whereas up front, we have S6K4H7 Samsung sensor. It appears that the front of the device is mated with an OmniVision OV2281 iris scanner, which seems to be under development for the device.

Other than this, the Mi Max 3 is likely to have dual SIM card slot, an IR blaster, LED light for notifications, audio tuned by Dirac, Qualcomm’s aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs, but no NFC. The handset will run on Android Oreo out of the box and have the fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.
